Hear from GSAS alum, Tom Davenport, who literally wrote the book on business analytics, the hottest growing field for PhD students in North America. If you use Netflix, then you may know it consistently predicts which movies you will prefer better than you can – this is the essence of analytics. In today’s competitive global economy, organizations are looking for PhDs with personality who can demystify big data trends into understandable business terms. Hear from the experts and learn more about how you can enter this exciting field.

Professor Davenport holds the President's Chair in the Information Technology Management Division of Babson College and co-directs the Working Knowledge Research Center there. He has taught at Harvard Business School, University of Chicago, Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business, and the University of Texas at Austin

This workshop is designed to help students transition from the thought processes and decision-making styles utilized in academe to those favored in the business world. It is conducted by Alan Kantrow. Alan Kantrow, PhD '79, History of American Civilization, is currently a Sloan visiting Scholar and Professor of Management, Moscow School of Management, formerly a Chief Content Officer at Monitor Company in Boston, and formerly a Partner at McKinsey & Co. Peter Keller, Vice President of Business Development at Selecta Biosciences, and a previous partner at McKinsey & Co. will also be joining Alan in leading this discussion. Students should plan to attend the entire session and be prepared to engage in interactive discussions, reading analysis, and case studies. Includes lunch. Please register through Crimson Careers.
