Lifetime Achievement Award for GSAS Stalwart

For his longtime leadership in fundraising support for the Graduate School, Homer Hagedorn, PhD’ 55, was given the David T. W. McCord '21 Award of lifetime achievement at the Harvard College Fund Assembly Leadership Dinner in October.

The award, established in 1987 in honor of David McCord, executive director of the Harvard College Fund for more than 30 years, is presented on special occasions to recognize longtime achievement in service to the Fund. Recipients have demonstrated extraordinary leadership over time and have led classmates and fellow graduates to new standards of performance.

GSAS has relied on Hagedorn for guidance and assistance in its fundraising efforts for decades. As a former Alumni Council president and as the longtime chair of the Graduate School Fund, he has been a tireless advocate for improving the quality of graduate student life at Harvard. He has also been a steady voice of advocacy for the value of graduate education in general, and graduate education at Harvard in particular.
