A New HILS-Wide Graduate Program In Therapeutics

Therapeutics Program Logo Dec. 2012

HILS is pleased to announce the launch of a new interdisciplinary graduate study offering in Therapeutics developed by the Biological and Biomedical Sciences, Chemical Biology, and Systems Biology programs.

A HILS-wide certificate program, Therapeutics will provide a cohesive curriculum and paracurricular activities for enrolled PhD trainees who desire rigorous multidisciplinary training in the sciences relevant to identifying and developing novel diagnostics and therapeutics, understanding and elucidating mechanisms of drug action, understanding clinical failures, developing compounds and applying them in preclinical and clinical studies, and understanding the societal implications and impact of these activities.

One major and exciting component of the program is an internship, to be done either in industry, clinical research or regulatory sciences.

Students interested in pursuing rigorous coursework and dissertation research in these fields — and who would like to be part of a community of like-minded students, fellows, and faculty — should consider this program.

The Therapeutics program solicited applications this past Fall from first-year HILS PhDs, and its inaugural student cohort will begin study in January 2013 (their first required class, “Translational Pharmacology,” begins on January 7).
