Special Students: Costs, Tuition and Fees
Special Students: Costs, Tuition and Fees
Tuition and Payment
Special Students are charged tuition on a per-course basis according to the rates below. This rate is the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences “full tuition” rate. Payment of tuition and fees is due in full prior to registration. Payment is submitted via the Harvard University Term Bill Website.
Students registering for non-credit audited courses (TIME-A) or Supervised Independent Research Projects (TIME-C) pay the same rate as credit courses.
Financial Aid through Harvard (including scholarships, work-study opportunities, and loans) is not available to non-degree students.
Fees
Every Special Student is automatically enrolled in the Harvard University Student Health Program (HUSHP), which the University offers through the insurance provider Blue Cross-Blue Shield (BCBS) of Massachusetts at a fee of $1084 per term ($2168 for the academic year). The Harvard University Health Services (HUHS) Basic Fee is $465 per term ($930 for the academic year). If a Special Student provides documentation establishing that he or she has comparable insurance that meets Commonwealth of Massachusetts and Harvard University Health Services pre-determined standards, HUSHP coverage and the associated fee may be waived. Only if a Special Student is enrolled in two or fewer courses, may they waive both the HUSHP and HUHS basic fees.
